Where I've Worked

Where will my next pin fall?

Perhaps you will help decide!

ABOUT ME

I grew up on a hobby farm in rural Wisconsin with three brothers. We spent our summers climbing trees, riding bikes, and catching fireflies, all while fostering a connection to the outdoors. This grew into a passion for conservation, leading me to earn a bachelor's in Wildlife Ecology and a minor in Conservation Biology.

I spent the next four years as a transient field technician, travelling from one seasonal job to the next, diversifying my skills and experiences along the way. From tackling deer in the mountains of Pennsylvania to stalking sage grouse in the high desert of Oregon, it was a dream come true.

Feeling drawn to pursue a master's in geographic information science (GIS), my graduate studies focused on remote sensing, specifically how to better map forested wetlands. In addition to my coursework, I had the pleasure of teaching GIS lab courses and becoming an FAA-certified drone pilot.

Upon completion of my graduate degree in May 2020, I moved to Anchorage, Alaska, where I have been applying geospatial thinking to improve decision-making!

GIS PORTFOLIO

Spatial is special, as they say.

Here, I showcase some of my GIS endeavors, including 3D animation, Story Maps, Model Builder, digitizing, software proficiencies, geospatial analyses, and of course, what GIS portfolio would be complete without a little cartography.

Communication skills

You've heard the familiar adage, communication is key.

Here are a few examples of both my written and verbal communication skills, from a formal research proposal, to a casually informative newsletter, professional blog posts geared towards public relations, engaging oral presentations, and an academic poster.
